The topic for the September 29th meeting of the Astronomy Club is Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs)
Lasting only milliseconds, these powerful radio bursts pierce through the interstellar medium from distant sources only to baffle astronomers upon their arrival on Earth. There are several theories regarding their mysterious nature, one of them from artificial intelligence. The CHIME radio telescope project may settle this mystery in the near future.
