(Updated April 15) Our new catalogue is now live! You can access it by selecting “Sign In” from the top menu, choosing “Search the Catalogue” on the home page, or by clicking here.
We recommend deleting any bookmarks you may have saved for the old catalogue. Reservations and renewals no longer work in the old catalogue, despite appearing to.
The new catalogue uses the same library cards and passwords as the old catalogue.
Libby now also requires users to input their password. Your Libby password is the same as your catalog password. If you do not know your password or are experiencing difficulties please reach out to the library at 613-678-2216.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we were not able to transfer over patron reading histories from the old catalog to the new. In order to comply with privacy laws, library systems do not create a way to export this data. We apologize to our more prodigious readers.
If you wish to keep a copy of your full reading history, we recommend printing it before the change. You can do this from the catalogue by going to My Account > History > Print. There is also the option to save it as a PDF from that same print screen. Alternatively, you can contact us and we will email it to you.
If you were familiar with our old catalog, it likely won’t take you too long before you’re comfortable in the new one. There are several new features that may benefit from a brief explanation, and we are working on a video overview to guide you through everything.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition. We apologize for any bumps along the way and hope you love the new catalogue.
Have fun exploring!
The Champlain Library will soon be launching a new online catalogue system!
Our current catalogue has served the library for many years, longer than most of us can remember. While it has worked well, library technology has changed a great deal and after careful consideration, the library has decided it is time to move to a more modern system that will better support our services in the years ahead.
Why We Are Making the Change
One important reason for the change is that we will now be working with a Canadian catalogue provider. The new system offers modern tools and features that will help improve how patrons search the catalogue, manage their accounts, and discover new materials. In particular, the new catalogue will provide a better experience on tablets and mobile.
Please note that the library will be closed on Monday, April 13th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm for staff to train on the new system.
What Will Change
For most users, the experience will feel very familiar. You will still be able to:
- Search the catalogue
- Place holds
- Renew items
- Manage your library account online
The main difference is that the catalogue will have a new look and layout. but there are a few changes you should be aware of:
- (Updated Apr 7): The maximum number of items you may borrow at one time has increased from 10 to 15.
Help Learning the New System
To help everyone get comfortable with the new catalogue, the library will offer both in-person and online information sessions. These sessions will demonstrate how to use the catalogue and the app, and there will be time for questions. The dates are undetermined but if you are interested in participating you can reserve your place here.
Transition Timeline
To prepare for the switch, there will be a temporary pause on placing holds and renewals during the week of April 6 while the changeover takes place. Please do not make online holds and renewals during this time as the data will not be transferred to the new system. Instead, please call the library at 613-678-2216.
The new catalogue will launch on April 13.
Online Apps
Transitioning to the new system should not interrupt your usage of Libby or Cantook. However, you may be asked to sign in again with your password. This is the same password you use to sign in to our catalogue. If you do not know your password, please call us at 613-678-2216.
(Updated Apr 7): Any patrons who have changed their password themselves will have their passwords reset. If this happens to you, please call the library to get a temporary password you can use to change it back to whatever you like.
What Will Not Change
A few things will stay exactly the same:
- Your library card will still work
- Borrowing rules will stay the same
- Interlibrary loan requests you have already made will not be affected
We look forward to introducing our new system! We think you’ll like it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the library at 613-678-2216 or online.
