For the last 7 years, libraries and schools have virtually come together each September 18 to celebrate the joys of digital reading on Read an Ebook Day. It is a commemoration of modern storytelling. The Libby app is the easiest way to get started with digital books and audiobooks from the Champlain Library. In Libby, simply follow the prompts to find your library and sign in with a valid library card. Browse the library’s collection and borrow a title. Digital circulation in the library has increased substantially and that calls for a celebration.

Digital reading has become an essential part of life, especially during this time of social distancing.

Take this day to celebrate the fact that library patrons always have access to many books from the library. Post and share what you are reading and the stories on social media using the hashtag #InternationalReadAnEbookDay or #eBookLove.

Don’t have a library card yet? Don’t fret. September is Library card sign-up month and everyone who signs up for a new library card will receive a cell phone cradle and have their name entered into a draw for a chance to win a prize pack from the Champlain Library. Although the library is currently closed to the public, except for curbside pickup, patrons can fill out a membership form on the website. For more information on Ebook Day or how to obtain a library card from the Champlain Library, visit bc-cl.ca or call 613-678-2216.
